Are you interested in being an “Artist in Residence" for the Township Community Arts Council’s (TCAC) Spring 2023 session? There is an opportunity for 3-4 artists to show their works at Gallery Splash! (Esquimalt Town Square, 503 Park Place) and sell and promote their work for at least one week between May 2 and June 6, 2023. We are open to collaborations if several artists decide to share the space. The last week of the session is reserved to showcase selected pieces from all participating artists.

Your application must include:

Artist responsibilities:
- Have a minimum of 20 original works for display and sale. Varying sizes, at least 4 pieces with a minimum of 20’’x20’’
- Create a theme/name for your residency as well as an event poster with the TCAC logo prominently featured (template will be provided).
- Arrive Tuesday morning and display work at the gallery until the following Tuesday. Help of TCAC volunteers is possible but not guaranteed.
- Work on your craft during specific days and hours, as per a previously agreed arrangement with TCAC. Artist must be available for a minimum of 2 afternoons during the week and a full day on Saturday & Sunday during their residency.
- Display TCAC banner or other promotional material and provide an informational handout to anyone interested in our arts council.
- Add the Artist in Residence to your website and promote on social media.
- Tidy and remove all artwork at the end of the residency.
- Arrange delivery or pick-up of your artworks to purchasers.
- You must have read and agreed to the terms and conditions of the Gallery Splash! Artist agreement (will be provided after initial interview).
Artist perks:
- Good exposure for your work via social media, on-line showings and classes, and promotional material that you may provide for visitors to take home.
- All sales proceeds go to the artist but must provide TCAC with statistics. Sold pieces will stay in place till the end of residency.
- Free use of the 2000 sq foot gallery space for at least 1 week

- A brief biography and photos of your best/favourite work, or link to your
- website URL
- Your experience/expertise in hosting an art showing.
- Your preferred Tuesday to Tuesday block between May 2, 2023, to May 23, 2023. The week from May 30 to June 6 is reserved for a collaboration of all participating artists in residence (selection as per our gallery coordinator to guarantee optimal use of available space).

The Township Community Arts Council and Aragon Properties were pleased to present the first TCAC Artist in Residence programme
at the new Esquimalt Town Square! This springtime event unfolded over three weeks, showcasing three notable local artists in a ‘gallery space’ inside a home at ETS. The artists provided virtual demonstrations, and gallery space tours were available.
