Shelley Hordiyuk has a life-long passion for arts, having explored music, photography, drawing, sculpture, and painting. After a successful career in healthcare and years spent teaching piano, Shelley devoted herself fully to painting in 2018. She paints intuitively, favouring fantastical scenes where imagination guides the brush. While her subjects have evolved over time, her free-flowing, colourful, and intuitive style has remained a defining feature of her work.
Shelley’s current focus is on imagined landscapes—vaguely familiar places brought to life through exaggerated colour, texture, and form. Her most recent series, Drawn By Light, leans toward impressionistic abstraction, capturing the dance of light through trees with expressive line and movement. She takes what exists in nature and lets it unfold freely on the canvas.
