ARTIST STATEMENT
I use my art to explore the essential connection we share with nature and work mainly with acrylic paint, and collage on canvas.
Although I've spent considerable time working on impressionistic portraits and interiors, my current focus is on landscapes… landscapes that push past what is visible to expose what I believe is hidden within.
My current creative practice usually begins with wandering in nature, and photography. I use photography to document my surroundings and try to capture how that landscape makes me feel and how it connects the soul to the natural world. I try to capture that moment of light, color, and composition that makes my heart beat a little faster, and my soul flutter into the back of my throat.
I explore textures, materials, and techniques, while fostering a deep connection to nature and self-expression. My hope is that my work will tell a rich, layered story to serve as a visual celebration of our connection to the earth.
