Our history:
The TCAC splashed out in 2014 powered by a grassroots group of people who love Esquimalt and who have a strong belief that arts and culture are community cornerstones that provide a sense of local identity, wellbeing, belonging and connectivity. This small band of volunteers launched a year-round slate of programming based on the following principles:
Programs and events were developed that include visual arts, music and youth mentorship. Over time, we added performing arts and a variety of cultural experiences. From the beginning, the TCAC forged strong relationships with other non-profit organizations, local business, performing groups and art societies. We have enjoyed the patronage of other community minded organizations such as CFB Esquimalt and the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria.
TCAC Today:
As we celebrate our Ten Year Anniversary in 2024, the TCAC continues to bring high quality programming to Esquimalt. We have become known as a strong supporter and partner of local First Nations and local cultural associations. For the first time in its history, Esquimalt enjoyed Lunar New Year celebrations with Lion Dancing in Esquimalt Town Square. We held a traditional dedication ceremony for a Welcome Pole which is housed in Gallery Splash! during an exhibition of Coast Salish art. We have partnered with the Francophone Society of Victoria in the past and hope to do so again. We continue to strive for excellence in all we do and will continue to search out opportunities for innovative and family-oriented activities that reflect who we are and who we hope to become as a community.
Our 2024 program line up consists of the following:
