Room to Share

Like everyone, I am multi-faceted. I create art because creativity is one of my core values, and I am fortunate to live on Vancouver Island, a place of stunning beauty. In fact, I am so grateful to be here that I became an activist when I moved here, and now I am involved in municipal politics to help preserve and develop my community in harmony with growth and nature.

The title "Room to Share" has multiple meanings. Firstly, the space shares the passage to various areas such as residential, commercial, municipal, and community spaces. It could have just been a hallway, but this utilitarian space was converted into a beautiful gallery where art and creativity is shared year round.

Creativity has the power to bring joy to our lives, and I am a strong advocate for the importance of creativity. Whether I am cooking, gardening, or solving a problem in a creative way, it brings me joy. To incorporate more creativity into my life, I take small art breaks throughout the day. This is why I will be inviting gallery guests to stop and draw for as long or as short a time as they wish. Art is not the only way to be creative, but it is my preferred method, hence the name "Room to Share." A still life will be set up with paper and art materials provided. Times will be posted through out the week of the residency.

Through my paintings, I hope to not only capture the beauty of Vancouver Island but also inspire others to appreciate and protect the natural world. I firmly believe that art has the power to unite people, regardless of their differences, and to encourage them to take action. My hope is that locals, and visitors alike will want to preserve the most beautiful place in the world, so that we can all have "Room to Share." And don’t forget to nurture your creativity along the way.

Love it, share it, and protect it.
