Lesley Fountain and Guests Art and Life
WIP (Work in Progress)
May 23 - June 6
Lesley Fountain is a Cowichan Valley artist and workshop instructor who has been painting and teaching for 30 years. Prior to moving to the Cowichan Valley twenty years ago she lived in Vancouver, England, and California. Lesley works primarily in acrylic on canvas as well as mixed media and collage. A self-taught artist, her style is intuitive, bold, playful, colourful, and often influenced by events currently unfolding in her life, interests, and song lyrics. She is a big believer in the creation of art as therapy. Her teaching mottos are: "Everyone is an artist" and "It's only paint." She encourages her students to find joy and satisfaction in the act of creating, not in the final result.
As co-owner of Tangerine Dream Gallery and Studio in Cowichan Bay, Lesley and fellow artist Pipi Tustian featured their own work in their gallery as well as the work of 40 local artists and artisans. They held multiple fundraising "paint in" events that featured collaborative painting projects. Lesley taught workshops in the Tangerine Dream studio space as well as at Lesley Fountain Studio in Mill Bay from 2012 to 2020. Lesley was an artist-in-residence in February, 2022 at LEÑA Artist Research and Residency Centre on Galiano Island. She is currently plotting the creation of a funky and fun new home studio from which she can watch her ducks and chickens and crank her music up while she paints. Lesley is delighted to share the space at Gallery Splash! with four of her former students - Sheila Thomas, Lisa Read, Alina Lintea, and Cathay Edwards https://lesleyfountain.blogspot.com/ |
